Today is Tuesday. Today, I met with a young single mother with three children. She lives in one room with her kids and shares the bathroom and kitchen with other people.
She told me she has saved up enough money to pay a deposit and first month’s rent on an apartment. The problem: she has 2 felony convictions and no one will rent to her.
She is the breadwinner and parent to 3 kids. Tell me, how can she survive in this world if she’s not given a chance to make a better life for herself and those kids?
There’s plenty of projects to take on, don”t you think? There are plenty of opportunities to make a difference in others’ lives.
You don’t have to do it alone. What if we had second chance communities? What if we became our brother’s keeper?
Today, I stopped at one of the grocery stores to ask for gift certificates for NH Gives Day.
The lady furrowed her brow and with pinched lips snarled, “There are too many of you charities asking for something.”
I smiled and said, “Thank God, because no one else seems to be helping and one day you may be on the receiving end.”
She just glared at me. Gosh, what a toad.
We need to outnumber people like her, don’t you think?
I’ll let you know how it goes with the mom. I am going to do my part to help her find an apartment.
Peace and much love..💕
